The 2021 NSW Rally Calendar has been announced by the Motorsport Australia NSW Rally Panel, with a full range of rallies for all competitors from novice to clubman to those contesting the NSW Rally Championship.
Events will span the entire State from Eden in the south to the Coffs Coast in the north and to Oberon in the Central West.
The season will open with a fresh new Clubman event in Eden on 27th February, organised by the Sapphire Coast Sporting Car Club, the same team that presents the iconic Bega Valley Rally. The event will give a taste of what’s in store for the “Bega” later in the year and will specifically target competitors from the southern region of the state who were so hard hit by the fires in the summer of 2019/20.
Other Clubman events will include the ever popular Mini ‘dulla Rally organised by Shoalhaven and Kiama Districts Auto Club between Batemans Bay and Termeil, and the Narooma Forest Rally run by the Brindabella Motor Sports Club a little further down the coast.
The remaining Clubman rallies will be held in conjunction with NSW Championship events at Batemans Bay, Oberon and the North Coast.
Novices will be well catered for with a number of introductory-type events specifically designed for those who would like to “come-and-try” the sport, and a full range of Hyundai Rally Series events including two rallysprints at the Awaba circuit run by Westlakes Auto Club.
The East Coast Classic Rally Series is running from strength to strength, with more and more vehicles becoming eligible as they pass the 30-year age limit, and with some of their drivers in their 60s, 70s and even 80s still going strong. There will be seven ECCRS events in 2021, the most distant (and longest) being the AGL Rally of the Heartland based in Burra, South Australia.
The NSW Rally Championship will feature five rounds in 2021 run out of Bega, Batemans Bay, the ACT, Oberon and the North Coast of NSW. Three of those events will be pace noted while the remaining two will need to be contested using a road book.
The full calendar of NSW rally events approved by the NSW Rally Panel is shown below.
