Australia’s Premier Classic Rally and Australia’s Premier Classic Rally Series unite, offering priority entry for East Coast Classic Rally Series Teams.
The NSW Rally Panel and The Alpine Rally of East Gippsland organisers have announced the inclusion of The Alpine Rally in the East Coast Classic Rally Series (ECCRS) and detailed their policy regarding entry into The Alpine for competitors.
The Alpine’s organising team feels that, as Australia’s premier event for classic rally cars, they have a responsibility to grow the entire sport as whole, and to help the organising teams of other events.
“If you make a commitment to the ECCRS – an initiative of the NSW Rally Panel – then we will reward that commitment by offering you priority entry into The Alpine,” said Owen Polanski, Director of The Alpine.
“This is an exciting opportunity for anyone considering doing multiple rounds of the ECCRS. All you need to do is enter at least one round of ECCRS and you’ll be given priority entry to The Alpine. The more rounds you enter, the more priority you’ll be given. We’ll offer up to 35 priority entries to teams in the ECCRS and with the Alpine being the final round, crews will be in for a real treat for their last rally of the year”.
The first round of the ECCRS is the Mitta Mountain Rally on March the 2nd. This event is also a round of both the Victorian Rally Championship AND the MTA NSW Rally Championship. The Mitta Mountain Rally is based out of the Victorian township of Mitta Mitta.
The ECCRS was initially suggested by several Classic Rally competitors in Queensland and NSW. It was implemented by the NSW Rally panel in 2018 with the hope of expanding its scope in future years.
Whilst the ECCRS is managed by Rally NSW, the series is aimed at Queensland, Victorian and NSW competitors with two rounds in Victoria, one round in Queensland, one round in the ACT and four rounds in NSW.
Owen Polanski is excited by the Alpine’s inclusion and added “It’s time to get your classic rally car out and give it a run.”
“C1, C2 and C3 Classic cars are eligible, including turbos within those classes,” he said.
Priority acceptance of entries will be given to ECCRS Teams within the first 24 hours of entries opening.
