In 2017, Wagga & District Car Club took its annual rallysprint event back to the forest, staging a somewhat different event in the Bondo State Forest near Tumut. The new format took advantage of the new rallysprint regulations allowing for longer stages (previously limited to 8km) providing 96km competitive distance was not exceeded. What the team came up with was two stages, run 3 times in the same direction and a total of approx. 74km competitive rallying.
The new format was well received by competitors and all giving the roads their stamp of approval. Victorian champion Arron Windus quoted as saying “the roads were unbelievable, in the top three of the best I’ve ever seen”
The event will run again in 2018 as an S2 rallysprint and will be rounds of the ACT Regional Rally Series, the Riverina North East Rallysprint Challenge and is back on the NSW Rallysprint Series calendar in 2018.

We have 2 stages one of 10.5km and one of 13.5km, run 3 times each in the same direction for a total of around the 74km mark competitive. Transport has been kept to just 45km.
The roads themselves are constructed forestry roads in pine forests. Surfaces include a mixture of blue metal, white gravel and a bit of natural thrown in. The terrain is undulating and provides some twisty “tighter” stuff along creek lines, flowing sections and some nice open fast sections to stretch the legs out.
Servicing will be on the Bondo Forest Airstrip so its all flat and there’s plenty of room to set up.
Spectator point – 18 kms from Service park, easy access and parking, raised vantage point with multiple viewing spots for spectators & media and is well shaded.
Spectator point is a fast 250m approach from a quick (visible) left hander, with plenty of room for a big set up into a medium speed left hander, then a short crest and into another left hander with a slightly off camber exit onto the start of a very quick section.
Rally HQ/Service located 32kms east of Tumut. No fuel available at the venue.
Catering – BBQ, coffee, cold drinks available throughout the day
Other facilities – portable toilets, camping at the Bondo airstrip
Event uses Forestry & public roads – vehicles need to be registered or hold a UVP (unregistered vehicle permit)
Drivers will require a civil drivers licence (or learners permit)
