The third running of Rally New England at Glen Innes will again be the opening round of the NSW Rally Championship, on Saturday 4th March.
This rally uses only shire roads for the competition, and they are the smoothest rally roads, similar to the NZ rally roads. The event is all daylight, on a roadbook prepared by Garry Yeomans. This means drivers can have the confidence that there will be no surprise hazards, as long as the co-driver is doing their job correctly!
The central service park is at Glen Innes Showgrounds, a secure area, where crews can camp if needed. On Friday evening, the Rally Show will be held at the Showground with selected competitors invited to drive the stage under lights, in front of the local residents.
After the success of last year, there will be a morning spectator point, 8 km from Glen Innes. Service crews will be able to do some viewing of the cars here, and then return to the showgrounds. The afternoon spectator point is the same as last year, people who went there said it is one of the best viewing areas in any rally in Australia. Food, drinks and toilets will be available at both spectator areas.
In 2017 the two final stages of the rally will be joined together, making a 40km stage.
This rally is special and all crews will have the best roads to enjoy. And if you don’t want to compete at the State level, the Allcomers Multiclub event runs as well, same cost, same roads, same competitive distance, all crews seeded in the one field.
The Tourist Association has donated $1,000 to the event in 2017, which will be awarded as prize money.
The New England Sporting Car Club is looking forward to your support again – See you in Glen Innes on the 4th of March.

The CAMS NSW Rally Panel regrets to advise that NSW competitors have been left with little option but to call for the 2018 Kennards Hire Rally Australia to be removed from the NSW calendar. This is disappointing as it could have been a fitting finale to the MTA NSW Rally Championship and the East Coast […]Continue Reading →
