Round Two of the Gary’s Motorsport Tyres NSW Rally Championship will be held on the incredible roads of Batemans Bay. Always a favourite for competitors, the Bay area has some of the most versatile and challenging roads in NSW.
This year’s event will be contested over 205km using all of those classic Batemans roads that we all love. They give us a mix of fast; tight and technical; and awesome rides like the River Rd. Of course, we have included all of the favourites, The Old Highway, Lyons Rd, Old Malua Bay, Buckenbowra – just to name a few. As you will see from the itinerary (in the Appendix) that there are 13 stages in total – 4 on Saturday and 9 on Sunday.
As usual, this event will be conducted in a very relaxed, fun atmosphere. Our aim is to provide maximum value for money and an experience that you will remember for years to come.
To keep the spectators, sponsors and VIP’s entertained, we have provided 10 spectating opportunities at 7 different locations over the weekend. The points that we have chosen are a great mix and often cars will travel through at pace and on attitude.
Our long term goal is to attract high profile and interstate competitors. To that end, we have structured the Rally of the Bay with a late start on Saturday afternoon (to allow more travelling time) and a finish on Sunday afternoon well before the Rally Party starts at 7:00pm. We are also offering a further incentive for interstate crews to assist with their travelling costs.
For your family members, friends or sponsors who are unable to make it to the Bay, Charlie Drake and his team will be providing a constant stream of updates and interviews on Facebook over the entire weekend. Keep watching the Rally NSW Facebook page. The result of the media program at the previous round in Canberra attracted over 40,000 people. Charlie intends to surpass this result at the Bay.
To maintain the fun all weekend, we have arranged a Rally Party to be held in the function rooms of the football club at Mackay Park – the Service Park. Start time is 7pm on Sunday night, so everyone should have plenty of time to pack up, shower and change before we let our hair down (those that still have some, that is). The catering team from the Football Club are quite experienced at feeding a crowd like ours and promise us a very hearty roast dinner and a selection of desserts. The function room is fully licensed and has a fully stocked bar and experienced bar staff. Just the thing after 205km of rallying!
We are extremely grateful for the support from all of the Rally NSW sponsors. Gary’s Motorsport Tyres are our key partner and naming rights sponsor for the 2014 NSW Rally Championship. Please support Gary and his team whenever you can. For the full list of sponsors, please refer here.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the hard working teams from the NSW Rally Panel and the Rally NSW Committee. They have achieved so much in so short a time. The great news is that there are many exciting announcements still to come and we are constantly encouraged by the inquiries from new competitors. The sport we love is growing again and has a very positive future.
Just one note on overnight security. We have engaged a security firm to have guards on site at Mackay Park all throughout Saturday night. This allows you to leave your service gear and cars at Mackay Park with the knowledge that they will be secure and ready for you come Sunday morning.
I look forward to seeing you at the Bay.
